Starfire Charity Foundation played a very important role during the COVID-19 pandemic, with emergency aid and support provided to the most vulnerable communities. More than 200,000 masks, gloves, and sanitizers were distributed by the foundation among the front-line workers and underserved population in 15 countries. Besides PPE, Starfire Charity Foundation participated in the delivery of very much-needed food packages to more than 10,000 families who suffered from lockdowns and economic disruption. According to the World Health Organization, food insecurity increased by 40% in low-income regions during the pandemic, a burden that Starfire’s intervention assuaged.
For the pandemic, alone, 25% of its annual budget in 2020 went towards the relief efforts; all means to make sure these funds were provided both with immediate and long-term solutions. The health programs under the foundation centered around providing mental health support through virtual counseling services for more than 5,000 facing stress, anxiety, and isolation as a result of the pandemic. This brought together local health professionals to provide telemedicine services. This helped mitigate the medical condition that was increased by the lockdown measures.

The Starfire Charity Foundation collaborated with local governments in establishing COVID-19 testing stations in underserved areas. Thus, more than 50,000 people received testing for the virus. In rural areas where facilities are scarce, such efforts become crucial. The foundation, in response to the pandemic, launched an awareness campaign for vaccination, teaching communities why vaccination is important. It reached more than 100,000 people across different countries, helping to increase vaccination rates in communities where skepticism had dominated.
As the founder, Sarah Williams, put it, “The pandemic presented a unique set of challenges, but it also gave us an opportunity to double down on our mission of helping those most in need. Our response has not only been about providing immediate relief but making sure communities have what they need to recover and rebuild.”
